What's a Coyote Magnum (aka CoyMag) and why do I need one?
Can't I just buy a squirt gun, fill it with vinegar and I'm good to go?
Yes, you can . . . but you shouldn't. Here's why:
- It's gonna leak. Pretty good chance you'll get home from your walk smelling a lot like some form of Newman's Own Balsamic something-or-other.
- Any grass / flowers / plants you happen to hit will not be happy. Vinegar, although a good Coyote deterrent, is also an herbicide. It kills stuff. Unfortunately it does not discriminate between weeds and domestic flora.
- That coyote is way faster than you. By the time you get that squirt gun out of your salad-dressing-soaked pocket or bag, bad things are already happening. Bad things, Man.
- They're difficult to throw accurately. Get a heavy one, 'cause you'll need to inflict as much torment as possible when you throw it at the coyote. The acetic acid in the vinegar will quickly eat away at the gun's internal connections and seals, so when you do need it, it will likely squirt about as far as that 5 iron you've been carrying . . . as in: not at all.
The CoyMag is the answer.

Leakage is a game-stopper. Whatever you're using for ammo, if it's nasty to a coyote then it's not so much fun for you, either. That's why I double-seal the seams and connections, just to be sure.

Clarified hot pepper extract. Ghost peppers, to be exact. No sediment or vinegar to muck up the CoyMag's internals. 4 or 5 drops mixed with water, and a couple squirts will turn a coyote right around. It's also safe for plants, so squirt your pots to keep those little critters away. Won't hurt to squirt some in your next chili, too. (Well, it might hurt a bit. Go easy).
